Prayer Tasbih is a very important part of a Muslim’s life. Prayer Tasbih is an act of worship and it is also an act of physical prayer. It is during this time that we are able to praise and glorify God as He is pleased. The word “Tasbih” translates literally to “in prayer.” Prayer Tasbih is done twenty-four hours a day and is one of the five pillars of Islam.

Prayer tasbih has many procedures to follow, but it basically involves you standing in front of the Qasid prayer (the front prayer of the prayer routine). This is done by making sure you are in a chair or position that does not permit you to stand up. After standing still you then raise both of your hands in the praying position. You then bow your head and repeat your prayer. Prayer tasbih is usually performed two times a day.

The procedure in which we perform tasbih is very simple, we simply pray. Our hands are placed on top of the raised portion of our heads. After we have bowed our heads, we place our right hand on our belly so that our left hand is also placed on our stomach. With our left hand, we place our thumb on the inside of our right index finger. Then we make a beckoning gesture with our entire body by bringing our tongue forward and repeating, “Allahumma gamma illalnaahu Allana Allahumma human” (praising and acknowledging God).
