Moving Bulding

Witnesses in Bangkok talked about how scary it was when buildings shook strongly. Scottish tourist Fraser Morton, who was in a shopping mall, recalled, “All of a sudden, the whole building began to move. Myanmar Authorities Begin Search Efforts

Myanmar’s Fire Services Department has begun damage assessments and search efforts in Yangon and other affected areas. “So far, we have no confirmed casualty numbers, but our teams are conducting checks,” an official told Reuters.

Epicenter and Regional Impact

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says that the epicentre of the earthquake was about 17.2 kilometres from Mandalay and only 10 kilometres deep. Even though the area is prone to earthquakes, the size of this one has caused a lot of damage, particularly since Myanmar is still in the middle of a civil war.
