What is Netflix?
Netflix is a subscription based streaming service that allows members to pick series, movies etc. of their choice that can be watched on a number of devices with 0 advertisements or commercials. Not only that but TV shows and Movies can be downloaded on devices like ios, Android, Windows 10 etc. and watched offline.
How this concept came into existence?
Started in 1997 with the concept of renting DVD’s by mail with the unconventional concept of charging a flat monthly fee, instead of charging by each DVD. However due to this, the corner DVD rental store phenomenon started to die but being profitable to Netflix, by 2005, they had a loyal 4.2 million DVD-by-mail rental subscriber base.
In 2007, it made the huge yet risky announcement of adding the ability for subscribers to stream TV shows and movies directly to their PCs, besides their rental DVD service.
