Neil Gaiman, a renowned British author, is facing more claims of sexual misconduct and assault after prior allegations against him. A recent New York Magazine article titled “There Is No Safe Word” has references from eight women who have accused Gaiman of assault, coercion, and abuse.

Allegations from the Former Nanny

Scarlett Pavlovich is a former nanny who worked as a babysitter for Gaiman and his second wife, Amanda Palmer. She claims that in February 2022, Gaiman sexually raped her in a backyard bathtub in New Zealand. She further says that Gaiman raped her beneath the sheets on a hotel bed while his kid was playing with an iPad in the same room. The lady stated that Gaiman directed her to address him as “master” and referred to her as a “good little girl.”

Other Allegations and Context

The report indicates that most of the women who accused Gaiman were in their 20s, with the youngest being 18 at the time of the alleged incidents. Neil Gaiman, on the other hand, was in his 40s or older during these periods.

This is not the first set of such allegations the author has faced. In July 2024, five women made similar claims in a six-part podcast series by Tortoise Media titled Master.

Responses of the Literary Community

Notably, author J.K. Rowling reacted to Gaiman’s claims by connecting them to the sexual assault actions against Hollywood tycoon Harvey Weinstein. She said that she is worried about the weak response from the literary community to Gaiman’s many costs, noting that the stories of the women were very similar.

Conclusion

These recent allegations fuel Neil Gaiman’s long breakdown, and the literary business and further talks amidst others have ignited debates upon charge and the treatment of women.
