On that night, he had played video games with friends at an apartment he shared with roommates off-campus while drinking alcohol and having fun.
After his friends went to sleep, Caleb decided to enjoy snacks ordered via the UberEats platform before sending a Sanpchat photo to another friend featuring a small bridge near his home.
His mobile phone last pinged off a nearby cell tower at approximately 3:03am. Although the food order did arrive outside his door through UberEats, it remained uncollected by Caleb.
His wallet and keys were found inside the apartment, but his phone was missing. Caleb’s roommates reported him missing when they found the untouched food order and noticed his absence.
Human remains were found in a wastewater well near where he lived after over three months on June 24th, 2024. The DNA analysis confirmed these remains belonged to Caleb Harris.
According to the findings of the investigation, there was an open manhole in a field about six hundred feet away from where he was last seen.
It is believed that Caleb may have accidentally fallen into the manhole, which was covered with grass and had its cover knocked aside.

Assistant Chief Todd Green mentioned that this case is one of the strangest he has seen in his 34-year tenure with the force. The investigation encompassed searching storm water and wastewater systems within the city where Caleb lived.
Despite efforts such as executing more than 50 electronic search warrants and analyzing over 1500 GB of data, many questions remain unanswered.
